Zolax 5MG Tablet is indicated for:
Treatment of severe generalized anxiety disorders (GAD).
Panic disorders with or without agoraphobia.
Adjunct therapy for managing anxiety in depression.
Alprazolam, a benzodiazepine, works by enhancing the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain, leading to a calming effect.
Initial dose: 0.25–0.5 mg three times daily.
Gradual dose adjustment may be required under a physician's guidance.
Maximum dose: Should not exceed 4 mg/day for anxiety; higher doses only under strict medical supervision for panic disorders.
Concurrent use with alcohol or CNS depressants may enhance sedative effects.
May interact with CYP3A4 inhibitors such as ketoconazole or ritonavir.
Use cautiously with opioids due to increased risk of sedation and respiratory depression.
Hypersensitivity to Alprazolam or other benzodiazepines.
Severe respiratory insufficiency or acute narrow-angle glaucoma.
Use in pregnancy or lactation unless specifically prescribed.
Common: Sedation, dizziness, dry mouth, memory impairment.
Rare: Tolerance, dependence, withdrawal symptoms.
Classified as pregnancy category D; not recommended for use during pregnancy due to potential teratogenic effects.
Use during lactation only if the benefits outweigh the risks.
Prolonged use may lead to tolerance, dependence, and withdrawal symptoms.
