Indications:
GENSULIN R is indicated for the treatment of diabetes mellitus, particularly in cases where immediate glucose control is needed, such as in Type 1 diabetes or insulin-requiring Type 2 diabetes.
Pharmacology:
GENSULIN R contains regular (soluble) insulin, a short-acting human insulin. It starts acting within 30 minutes of subcutaneous injection, peaks at 2–4 hours, and lasts about 6–8 hours. It helps to lower blood glucose by promoting cellular uptake of glucose and suppressing hepatic glucose output.
Dosage:
The dose is individualized according to blood glucose levels, diet, physical activity, and doctor's instructions. Usually administered 30 minutes before meals.
Administration:
For subcutaneous injection only. May be used intravenously under clinical supervision. Rotate injection sites to avoid lipodystrophy. Use insulin syringes calibrated for 100 IU/ml.
Interaction:
Drugs that may enhance insulin effect: oral hypoglycemics, ACE inhibitors, MAOIs.
Drugs that may reduce insulin effect: corticosteroids, diuretics, thyroid hormones.
Alcohol may cause unpredictable blood sugar changes.
Contraindications:
