Indications:
DUVENT 50ML syrup is indicated for the prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma, seasonal allergic rhinitis, and to prevent exercise-induced bronchoconstriction in children aged 6 months and above.
Pharmacology:
Montelukast is a selective leukotriene receptor antagonist that binds with high affinity to the CysLT1 receptor. By blocking leukotrienes, it helps reduce inflammation, bronchoconstriction, mucus production, and airway edema—improving breathing and allergy control in pediatric patients.
Dosage:

Children 6 months to 5 years: 4 mg (as prescribed by physician) once daily in the evening.

Dosage should be determined by the child’s age and condition.
Administration:
Administer orally once daily, with or without food, preferably in the evening. Shake well before use. Use a proper measuring device.
Interaction:
May interact with enzyme-inducing drugs like rifampicin, phenytoin, and phenobarbital which can reduce Montelukast levels.
Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to Montelukast or any excipients in the formulation.
Side Effects:
May include fever, diarrhea, rash, upper respiratory infection, abdominal pain, and sleep disturbances. Rare neuropsychiatric events have been reported.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
This formulation is not intended for pregnant women. Use in lactating mothers only if prescribed.
Precautions & Warnings:

Not for use in acute asthma attacks.
