Indications:
Used for the reduction of fever and the relief of mild to moderate pain such as headache, toothache, sore throat, and post-immunization discomfort in infants and young children.
Pharmacology:
Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is a widely used analgesic and antipyretic. It works by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system and blocks pain impulse generation.
Dosage:
As directed by the physician. Usual pediatric dosage is based on body weight: 10-15 mg/kg every 4 to 6 hours, not exceeding 60 mg/kg/day.
Administration:
Shake well before use. Administer orally using the dropper provided. Can be taken with or without food.
Interaction:
May interact with blood thinners (e.g., warfarin) and other medications containing paracetamol. Avoid concurrent use with alcohol or hepatotoxic drugs.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to paracetamol or any of the components of the formulation. Severe liver impairment.
Side Effects:
Generally well-tolerated. Rare side effects may include allergic reactions, rash, or gastrointestinal discomfort. High doses may cause liver damage.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Safe when used at recommended doses. However, always consult a doctor before use in breastfeeding mothers.
Precautions & Warnings:
Do not exceed the recommended dose. Use with caution in children with liver or kidney disease. Keep out of reach of children.
