CARNOVAS 2.5MG is indicated for:
Treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure).
Adjunct therapy in heart failure for improving cardiac output.
Pharmacology
Nebivolol is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker that reduces heart rate and myocardial oxygen demand. It also enhances nitric oxide availability, leading to vasodilation and improved blood flow.
Dosage and Administration
Starting dose: 2.5 mg once daily.
Can be increased to 5 mg daily based on clinical response.
Administer with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.
Interaction
May interact with other antihypertensive agents, enhancing their effects.
Caution with calcium channel blockers (e.g., verapamil) and digoxin.
Alcohol consumption may increase hypotensive effects.
Contraindications
Severe bradycardia.
Cardiogenic shock or decompensated heart failure.
Known hypersensitivity to Nebivolol or excipients.
Side Effects
Common: Headache, dizziness, fatigue, or gastrointestinal discomfort.
Rare: Bradycardia, hypotension, or shortness of breath.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Use during pregnancy only if clearly indicated and under medical supervision.
Avoid during breastfeeding unless specifically advised by a doctor.
Precautions & Warnings
Caution in patients with diabetes, as it may mask hypoglycemia symptoms.
Use with care in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Do not stop abruptly; taper the dose gradually to prevent rebound hypertension or angina.
