Indications
Fever (moderate to high)
Mild to moderate pain including headache, toothache, and muscle pain
Pain or fever in post-surgical patients
Suitable for patients unable to take oral medication (e.g., vomiting)
Pharmacology
NAPA 500 MG suppository contains Paracetamol (Acetaminophen), which is a centrally acting analgesic and antipyretic. It inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins in the CNS and acts on the hypothalamic heat-regulating center to reduce fever. Rectal absorption is relatively slower but suitable when oral administration is not feasible.
Dosage & Administration
Adults and children over 12 years: 500 mg suppository every 4 to 6 hours as needed
Maximum: Not more than 4 grams (8 suppositories) in 24 hours
Administer rectally. Do not divide suppository
Gently insert into rectum while lying on one side
Wash hands before and after use
Interaction
Should not be taken with other paracetamol-containing medicines
Chronic use with warfarin may increase bleeding risk
Avoid alcohol consumption due to liver toxicity risk
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to paracetamol
Severe hepatic impairment
Rectal irritation or proctitis
Side Effects
Rare: rectal irritation, rash, nausea
Overdose may lead to liver failure
Generally safe at therapeutic doses
Pregnancy & Lactation
Paracetamol is generally safe during pregnancy and lactation if used at recommended doses
Always consult a physician before use in pregnant women

Do not exceed recommended dose
Avoid concurrent use of other paracetamol-based products
Monitor liver function if used for prolonged periods
