ATOVA EZ 10/10 MG Tablet is indicated for:

  • Hypercholesterolemia (high LDL cholesterol) management in adults and children.

  • Mixed dyslipidemia with elevated LDL, triglycerides, and low HDL.

  • Cardiovascular risk reduction for individuals with heart conditions or multiple risk factors.

  • Familial hypercholesterolemia treatment.

Pharmacology:
ATOVA EZ combines two active agents for comprehensive cholesterol management:

  • Atorvastatin (10mg): An HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor that lowers LDL cholesterol by inhibiting hepatic cholesterol synthesis and enhances HDL cholesterol.

  • Ezetimibe (10mg): A cholesterol absorption inhibitor that prevents intestinal cholesterol uptake, complementing the effects of Atorvastatin.

This synergistic combination results in significant lipid profile improvement and reduced cardiovascular risks.

Dosage & Administration:

  • Adults: One tablet daily, preferably at the same time each day. Dosage adjustments should follow lipid profile evaluations.

  • Children (>10 years): As directed by a physician, typically one tablet daily.

  • May be taken with or without food.

Interaction:

  • Concomitant use with fibrates or niacin increases muscle toxicity risk.

  • Grapefruit juice may enhance Atorvastatin levels; intake should be limited.

  • Ezetimibe’s efficacy may be reduced when taken with bile acid sequestrants.

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to Atorvastatin, Ezetimibe, or their components.

  • Active liver disease or persistent elevation of liver enzymes.

  • Pregnancy and lactation.

Side Effects:

  • Common: Nausea, headache, abdominal discomfort, muscle pain, diarrhea.

  • Rare: Rhabdomyolysis, severe muscle damage, liver enzyme elevation, allergic reactions.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

  • Pregnancy: Category X - Not recommended as it may harm fetal development.

  • Lactation: Contraindicated due to possible passage into breast milk.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • Regular monitoring of liver enzymes and lipid profile is necessary.

  • Discontinue use if unexplained muscle pain or weakness occurs.

  • Use cautiously in patients with liver disease history or excessive alcohol consumption.

Therapeutic Class:
Lipid-lowering agents (Statin + Cholesterol absorption inhibitor).
