CARDOPRIN 75 is indicated for:
Prevention of heart attacks and strokes in high-risk patients.
Prevention of thromboembolic disorders.
Maintenance therapy after a heart attack or certain types of surgeries (e.g., stents).
Pharmacology
Aspirin inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), reducing the production of thromboxane A2, a substance that promotes platelet aggregation. This antiplatelet effect prevents the formation of blood clots.
Dosage and Administration
Recommended dose: 75 mg once daily.
Take with food or after a meal to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort.
Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew the tablet.
Interaction
Increased bleeding risk with anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin, heparin) or antiplatelet drugs (e.g., clopidogrel).
May enhance the effect of certain drugs, including methotrexate and valproic acid.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to aspirin or other NSAIDs.
Active peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding.
Severe liver or kidney dysfunction.
Hemophilia or other bleeding disorders.
Side Effects
Common: Gastric irritation, nausea, heartburn.
Rare: Allergic reactions, bleeding tendencies, or tinnitus (ringing in the ears).
Pregnancy & Lactation
Not recommended during the third trimester of pregnancy due to the risk of fetal harm.
