Indications:
EMIJOY DS is indicated for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina pectoris (chest pain). It is beneficial in patients requiring combination therapy for better cardiovascular control.

Pharmacology:

  • Amlodipine is a long-acting calcium channel blocker that relaxes vascular smooth muscle and causes vasodilation, thereby lowering blood pressure and reducing the workload on the heart.

  • Atenolol is a cardioselective beta-blocker that decreases heart rate and myocardial contractility, resulting in reduced cardiac oxygen demand.

Dosage:
The usual dose is one tablet once daily. The specific strength (10/25 mg) is selected based on clinical condition and response. Physician's guidance is essential.

Administration:
Administer orally once daily, with or without food. Take at the same time each day. Do not crush or chew the tablet.

Interaction:

  • Caution with other antihypertensives, calcium channel blockers, digitalis, insulin, or oral antidiabetic medications.

  • Avoid alcohol and sudden discontinuation to prevent rebound hypertension or angina.

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to Amlodipine, Atenolol, or any excipients.

  • Cardiogenic shock, bradycardia, second or third-degree heart block, uncompensated heart failure, severe hypotension.

Side Effects:
May include fatigue, dizziness, slow heart rate, leg swelling, nausea, cold extremities, or hypotension. Rare: bronchospasm, depression, or cardiac failure.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Use in breastfeeding mothers should be carefully monitored, as Atenolol may be excreted in breast milk.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • Monitor blood pressure, heart rate, and signs of fluid retention.

  • Use cautiously in patients with asthma, diabetes, renal/hepatic impairment.

  • Do not stop abruptly—gradual dose reduction is advised under medical supervision.

Therapeutic Class:

  • Calcium Channel Blocker and Beta-Blocker combination

  • Antihypertensive and Antianginal Agent

Storage Conditions:
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
