ATRIZIN 60ML Syrup is indicated for:
Seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis.
Relief of symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy or watery eyes.
Treatment of chronic urticaria (hives) and other allergic skin conditions.
Managing allergies caused by dust, pollen, and animal dander, especially in children.
Pharmacology:
ATRIZIN Syrup contains Cetirizine, a selective H1-receptor antagonist.
It works by blocking histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms.
Cetirizine has a quick onset and long-lasting effect, with minimal sedative properties compared to traditional antihistamines.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults and children (above 12 years): 10 mg (10 mL) once daily.
Children (6-12 years): 5 mg (5 mL) twice daily.
Children (2-6 years): 2.5 mg (2.5 mL) twice daily or 5 mg (5 mL) once daily.
Can be taken with or without food.
Interaction:
Concurrent use with alcohol or CNS depressants may enhance drowsiness.
Avoid combining with other antihistamines without medical advice.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Cetirizine or hydroxyzine.
Severe renal impairment.
Side Effects:
Common: Drowsiness, dry mouth, headache, fatigue.
Rare: Rash, gastrointestinal upset, dizziness.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a physician (Category B).
Lactation: Avoid use as it may pass into breast milk.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for drowsiness; avoid activities requiring alertness if affected.
Use cautiously in children with renal impairment or history of seizures.
