Indications:
TYCLAV Syrup is indicated for treating respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and other bacterial infections susceptible to this combination.
Pharmacology:
Contains amoxicillin, a penicillin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, and clavulanic acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects amoxicillin from degradation by resistant bacteria, enhancing its effectiveness.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults and children over 12 years: Follow physician’s prescribed dose, usually 5 ml every 8 hours.
Children (under 12 years): Dose based on body weight and doctor’s advice.
Take after meals to reduce stomach upset.
Interaction:
May interact with anticoagulants, allopurinol, and oral contraceptives. Inform your doctor about all medications.
Contraindications:
Not for use in patients allergic to penicillins, cephalosporins, or any components of the syrup.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and rash. Rare severe allergic reactions can occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding only if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use cautiously in patients with liver or kidney impairment. Discontinue if severe allergic reactions occur.
