Indications:
Rosutin 20mg is indicated for:
Primary hypercholesterolemia
Mixed dyslipidemia
Familial hypercholesterolemia
Cardiovascular risk reduction in high-risk patients
Pharmacology:
Rosuvastatin is a potent HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin). It decreases cholesterol synthesis in the liver, reduces LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglycerides, and modestly increases HDL (good cholesterol). It helps prevent plaque buildup in arteries, reducing cardiovascular risks.
Dosage:
Usual adult dose: 10–20 mg once daily
May be increased to a maximum of 40 mg per day if needed and tolerated
Dosage must be tailored to individual lipid profile and cardiovascular risk
Administration:
Take once daily with or without food. Preferably at the same time each day. Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Interaction:
Caution with drugs like cyclosporine, warfarin, gemfibrozil, antacids, and protease inhibitors. May require monitoring of liver enzymes and creatine kinase.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Rosuvastatin
Active liver disease
Pregnancy and lactation
Severe renal impairment
Side Effects:
Common: Muscle pain, headache, nausea, constipation
Rare: Myopathy, rhabdomyolysis, elevated liver enzymes, allergic reactions
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Absolutely contraindicated. Statins may harm fetal development and should not be used during breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor liver function and muscle enzyme levels periodically. Use caution in patients with a history of liver disease, alcoholism, or kidney impairment.
