Indications:
TUSPEL Syrup is indicated for the treatment of productive cough, bronchitis, chest congestion, and other respiratory conditions where thick mucus is present in the airways.
Pharmacology:
TUSPEL contains Ambroxol Hydrochloride, a mucolytic agent that breaks down and thins mucus in the lungs, making it easier to cough up. It enhances the production of surfactant and improves ciliary activity, facilitating mucus clearance from the respiratory tract.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: 10 ml two to three times daily
Children (6–12 years): 5 ml two to three times daily
Children (2–5 years): 2.5 ml two to three times daily
Dose may vary based on physician’s prescription. Should be taken after food.
Interaction:
Ambroxol may enhance the concentration of certain antibiotics (like amoxicillin, cefuroxime, and erythromycin) in lung tissue. No significant interaction with other drugs has been noted.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Ambroxol or any other components of the formulation.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, or allergic skin reactions such as rash or itching.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use in pregnancy, especially during the first trimester, should be avoided unless prescribed. Use with caution during breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use cautiously in patients with gastric ulcer history. Avoid prolonged use without medical advice. Discontinue if allergic reaction occurs.
