Indications:
FERINTUS Injection is indicated for treatment of iron deficiency anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis, and in patients who cannot tolerate or do not respond to oral iron therapy.
Pharmacology:
FERINTUS contains Iron Sucrose complex which delivers iron directly to the reticuloendothelial system. It replenishes iron stores necessary for hemoglobin synthesis and red blood cell production.
Dosage:
Dose depends on patient’s iron deficit and clinical condition. Typically administered as intravenous infusion over 15-30 minutes, repeated as necessary.
Administration:
Administer intravenously by slow injection or infusion as per medical supervision. Avoid rapid bolus injection. Monitor for hypersensitivity reactions during and after administration.
Interaction:
Concurrent use with other parenteral iron preparations should be avoided. May interact with certain antibiotics reducing their effectiveness.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to iron sucrose or any components of the formulation. Avoid in patients with iron overload conditions like hemochromatosis.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include nausea, headache, dizziness, hypotension, injection site reactions, and rare anaphylactic reactions.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by physician. Safety in pregnancy and lactation not fully established.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for signs of hypersensitivity or anaphylaxis during infusion. Use cautiously in patients with infections or iron overload. Ensure correct dosing to avoid iron toxicity.
Therapeutic Class:
Parenteral iron replacement therapy
Storage Conditions:
Store below 30°C, protect from light. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
