Indications:
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Used as an adjunct to diet and exercise
Especially effective for overweight patients or those at cardiovascular risk
Pharmacology:
Dapagliflozin: A selective SGLT2 inhibitor that reduces reabsorption of glucose in the kidneys, leading to increased glucose excretion through urine.
Metformin: A biguanide that reduces hepatic glucose production and enhances insulin sensitivity, thereby lowering blood glucose levels.
Dosage:
Usually 1 tablet once or twice daily with meals, as directed by a physician
Doses may be adjusted depending on blood sugar levels and patient response
Administration:
Oral use with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects
Take with sufficient water; do not crush or chew
Interaction:
Caution with insulin or sulfonylureas (increased risk of hypoglycemia)
May interact with diuretics, ACE inhibitors, and alcohol
Contraindications:
Type 1 Diabetes
Diabetic ketoacidosis
Severe renal impairment
Hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation
Side Effects:
Common: Genital mycotic infections, urinary tract infections, nausea, diarrhea
Rare: Lactic acidosis, dehydration, hypotension

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding should be done only under physician’s advice.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor renal function before and during treatment
Avoid in conditions causing dehydration
Discontinue temporarily before surgery or contrast procedures
