Indications:
Nitrosol SR 2.6mg is indicated for the prevention and long-term management of angina pectoris caused by coronary artery disease. It is not intended for immediate relief of acute chest pain.
Pharmacology:
Nitrosol SR contains Isosorbide Dinitrate in a sustained-release formulation. It dilates blood vessels, reduces myocardial oxygen demand, and improves oxygen delivery to the heart. The SR form ensures a prolonged effect with steady drug release.
Dosage:
Usually 1 tablet (2.6mg) 2 to 3 times daily, or as directed by the physician. Dose may vary depending on patient condition.
Administration:
Take orally with water. Swallow whole, do not crush or chew. Best taken on an empty stomach or as prescribed.
Interaction:
Should not be taken with phosphodiesterase inhibitors (e.g., sildenafil, tadalafil) due to risk of severe hypotension. May interact with other antihypertensives and alcohol.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to nitrates, severe anemia, increased intracranial pressure, or acute myocardial infarction with low blood pressure.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, flushing, and low blood pressure. Tolerance may develop with prolonged use.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly necessary and under medical supervision. Safety in lactating mothers has not been well established.
Precautions & Warnings:
Caution in patients with hypotension, glaucoma, or volume depletion. Avoid abrupt discontinuation. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery due to dizziness.
