ARIXON 1GM Injection IV is indicated for:

  • Severe bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms.

  • Respiratory tract infections, including pneumonia and bronchitis.

  • Skin and soft tissue infections.

  • Urinary tract infections.

  • Bone and joint infections.

  • Abdominal infections, including peritonitis.

  • Septicemia and meningitis.

  • Prophylaxis in surgical procedures to prevent infections.

Pharmacology:
Arixon (Ceftriaxone) is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic:

  • It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death.

  • Effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Dosage & Administration:

  • Adults: 1-2 gm once daily or in two divided doses, depending on the severity and type of infection.

  • Children: Dosage based on body weight (typically 20-80 mg/kg/day).

  • Mode of Administration: Administered intravenously (IV) over 30 minutes.

  • Adjust dosage in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.

Interaction:

  • Avoid mixing with calcium-containing IV solutions.

  • Use with caution with other nephrotoxic or ototoxic drugs.

Contraindications:

  • Known hypersensitivity to ceftriaxone, cephalosporins, or penicillins.

  • Neonates (<28 days) requiring calcium IV solutions.

Side Effects:

  • Common: Pain at the injection site, diarrhea, rash.

  • Rare: Anaphylaxis, thrombocytosis, pseudomembranous colitis.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
