Indications:
DEXAQUA 1000ML is indicated for the treatment of dehydration due to fluid loss, electrolyte imbalance, vomiting, diarrhea, surgical fluid replacement, or other medical conditions where intravenous rehydration is required.

Pharmacology:
DEXAQUA typically contains a balanced combination of dextrose and electrolytes (such as sodium chloride and potassium chloride) in sterile water. Dextrose provides an energy source while electrolytes restore plasma electrolyte levels. It maintains osmotic balance and prevents cellular dehydration.

Dosage:

Dosage depends on the patient’s age, clinical condition, body weight, and ongoing losses.
Typically administered by intravenous infusion at a controlled rate as per physician's instructions.

Administration:
To be administered intravenously by healthcare professionals only. Rate of infusion should be monitored to prevent fluid overload or electrolyte disturbance.

Interaction:
Caution is advised in patients receiving corticosteroids or other drugs that may affect electrolyte levels. Interactions with insulin may occur when dextrose is present.

Contraindications:

Patients with fluid overload, hyperkalemia, hyperglycemia (in dextrose-containing solutions), or known hypersensitivity to any component.
Not for use in patients with anuria or severe renal impairment without close monitoring.

May include vein irritation, thrombophlebitis, fluid overload, electrolyte imbalance, or allergic reaction in rare cases.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Generally considered safe when used appropriately. However, close monitoring is essential in pregnant women with conditions like preeclampsia or gestational diabetes.

Precautions & Warnings:

Use with caution in patients with renal or cardiac impairment.
Monitor blood glucose levels in diabetic patients.
