Indications:
DINOGEST 2MG is indicated for the treatment of endometriosis to relieve pelvic pain and inhibit the progression of endometrial lesions.
Pharmacology:
Dienogest is a synthetic progestogen that reduces the production of estrogen by inhibiting ovulation and thinning the endometrial lining. It works by creating a hormonal environment that is unfavorable for endometrial tissue growth, both inside and outside the uterus.
Dosage:
Adults: 1 tablet (2 mg) daily, preferably at the same time each day, continuously without a break.
The duration of treatment is determined by the physician.
Administration:
Should be taken orally with or without food. Tablets should be swallowed whole with water.
Interaction:
Possible interactions with CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine) and inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole). It may reduce the effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives.
Contraindications:
Known or suspected pregnancy.
Active thromboembolic disorders.
Severe hepatic disease.
Hormone-sensitive malignancies.
Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include headache, breast discomfort, mood changes, nausea, and acne. In rare cases, it may cause depression or changes in liver enzymes.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not to be used during pregnancy. Use during lactation only if clearly necessary and prescribed by a physician.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor liver function in long-term use.
Not suitable for use as a contraceptive.
Caution in patients with a history of depression or cardiovascular disease.
