Pharmacology:
Etizolam is a thienodiazepine derivative that acts on the central nervous system by enhancing GABA activity, producing anxiolytic, sedative, and muscle relaxant effects.
Dosage & Administration:
Usually prescribed as 0.25 to 0.5 mg once or twice daily. Take orally, preferably after meals or as directed by physician.
Interaction:
Potentiates effects of alcohol and other CNS depressants
May interact with anticonvulsants, antidepressants, and opioid analgesics
Avoid concurrent use with other sedatives without doctor’s advice
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Etizolam or benzodiazepine-like drugs
Severe respiratory insufficiency
Myasthenia gravis
Acute narrow-angle glaucoma
