Indications
TELMA 40 MG is indicated for essential hypertension treatment and reducing cardiovascular risk such as heart attack or stroke in high-risk patients.
Pharmacology
Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that inhibits the binding of angiotensin II to AT1 receptors, leading to vasodilation and decreased blood pressure.
Dosage
The usual dose is 40 mg once daily, which may be increased to 80 mg based on clinical response.
Administration
Taken orally, with or without food, preferably at the same time daily.
Interaction
May interact with potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics, lithium, NSAIDs, and other antihypertensives, requiring close monitoring.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Telmisartan, pregnancy, severe hepatic impairment, bilateral renal artery stenosis.
Side Effects
Dizziness, fatigue, back pain, hyperkalemia, hypotension, and rarely angioedema or renal impairment.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Contraindicated in pregnancy. Use with caution during lactation under medical advice.
Precautions & Warnings
Monitor renal function and electrolytes; use cautiously in patients with renal or hepatic impairment or volume depletion.
