Indications:
Odycin 400mg is indicated for the treatment of acute bacterial sinusitis, community-acquired pneumonia, uncomplicated and complicated skin and soft tissue infections, and urinary tract infections caused by susceptible microorganisms.
Pharmacology:
Contains Moxifloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, thereby stopping bacterial replication and killing the bacteria.
Dosage:
Usually, one 400mg tablet once daily for 5 to 14 days depending on the type and severity of infection. Dosage should be determined by a physician.
Administration:
Take orally with or without food. Swallow whole with plenty of water. Avoid dairy products or antacids close to the time of taking this medicine.
Interaction:
May interact with antacids, iron supplements, multivitamins, and drugs that prolong QT interval. Inform your doctor about all ongoing medications.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Moxifloxacin or other quinolones. Also contraindicated in patients with a history of tendon disorders related to fluoroquinolone use.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, and potential QT prolongation. Rarely, tendon rupture or allergic reactions may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless clearly necessary and prescribed by a doctor.
Precautions & Warnings:
Avoid exposure to sunlight or tanning beds during treatment. Caution in patients with heart rhythm disorders, liver disease, or history of seizures.
