Indications
TELMA PLUS 40 MG is indicated for treatment of hypertension, especially in patients who do not respond adequately to monotherapy. It helps in lowering blood pressure and reducing cardiovascular complications.
Pharmacology
This medicine combines Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic. Telmisartan blocks AT1 receptors to prevent vasoconstriction, while Hydrochlorothiazide increases urine output to reduce blood volume, together effectively lowering blood pressure.
Dosage
Usually, one tablet once daily. Dose adjustment should be guided by a physician based on the patient’s response.
Administration
Taken orally with or without food, preferably at the same time each day for consistency.
Interaction
May interact with other antihypertensives, potassium supplements, lithium, NSAIDs, and other diuretics. Monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolytes is important.
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to Telmisartan, Hydrochlorothiazide, pregnancy, severe liver or kidney impairment, and anuria.
Side Effects
Possible side effects include dizziness, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, increased urination, fatigue, and rarely angioedema.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Contraindicated in pregnancy. Use during lactation only if clearly needed and under medical supervision.
Precautions & Warnings
Caution in patients with kidney or liver disease, diabetes, gout, or electrolyte disturbances. Regular monitoring recommended.
