Indications:
FIXOLIN 400MG is indicated for improving glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, used alone or with other antidiabetic agents.
Pharmacology:
Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production, intestinal glucose absorption, and enhances insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake.
Dosage:
Typically started at 500 mg once or twice daily, adjusted per patient's response; 400 mg tablets dosage to be prescribed by physician.
Administration:
Oral administration with meals to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort.
Interaction:
May interact with iodinated contrast agents, diuretics, and other medications affecting glucose metabolism.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in renal impairment, metabolic acidosis, or known hypersensitivity to Metformin.
Side Effects:
Common side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort; rare risk of lactic acidosis.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if benefits outweigh risks; consult physician before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
