Indications
TELMA 80 MG is indicated for treatment of essential hypertension and prevention of cardiovascular events in patients with risk factors.
Pharmacology
Telmisartan selectively blocks angiotensin II AT1 receptors, preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, resulting in blood pressure reduction.
Dosage
Typically, 80 mg once daily. Dose adjustment should be based on patient response and physician’s guidance.
Administration
Oral administration, with or without food, at the same time every day for optimal control.
Interaction
Possible interactions with potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics, NSAIDs, lithium, and other antihypertensive drugs; monitoring required.
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to Telmisartan, pregnancy, severe hepatic impairment, bilateral renal artery stenosis.
Side Effects
Side effects may include dizziness, fatigue, back pain, hyperkalemia, hypotension, rarely angioedema or kidney problems.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Not recommended during pregnancy; use only if clearly needed during breastfeeding under medical supervision.
Precautions & Warnings
Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment, monitor renal function and electrolytes regularly.
