Indications:
Nervalin CR 330mg is indicated for the management of chronic neuropathic pain, including diabetic peripheral neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia, spinal cord injury, fibromyalgia, and generalized anxiety disorder.
Pharmacology:
This controlled-release tablet contains Pregabalin, which binds to the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the CNS. This reduces the release of excitatory neurotransmitters such as glutamate, noradrenaline, and substance P. The CR formulation ensures a slow and steady release, maintaining therapeutic levels throughout the day.
Dosage:
Recommended dose is 330mg once daily, preferably in the evening. Dose adjustments may be needed based on clinical response and renal function.
Administration:
Take orally once daily with food to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort. Swallow the tablet whole—do not crush, break, or chew.
Interaction:
May increase sedative effects of alcohol and CNS depressants. Avoid alcohol and consult a doctor before combining with other sedatives or anticonvulsants.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Pregabalin or any of the excipients.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include dizziness, somnolence, dry mouth, weight gain, blurred vision, edema, and fatigue.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed and under medical supervision. Use caution during breastfeeding, as Pregabalin is excreted in breast milk.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use with caution in patients with renal impairment. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Monitor for signs of suicidal thoughts or behavior, especially at the beginning of therapy.
Therapeutic Class:
Anticonvulsants – Neuropathic pain and anxiety (Controlled-release formulation)
Storage Conditions:
Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
