Indications:
EMIJOY is indicated for the treatment of hypertension and angina pectoris. It is particularly beneficial when monotherapy is inadequate.
Pharmacology:
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that inhibits calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, resulting in vasodilation and decreased peripheral resistance.
Atenolol is a cardioselective beta-blocker that decreases heart rate, cardiac output, and blood pressure by blocking β1-adrenergic receptors.
Dosage:
One tablet once daily, or as directed by the physician. Dosage may be adjusted based on clinical response.
Administration:
Take orally, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water at the same time each day.
Interaction:
Concomitant use with other antihypertensives, diuretics, or NSAIDs may enhance or reduce effects.
May interact with digoxin, insulin, and oral hypoglycemic agents.
Avoid alcohol and abrupt withdrawal.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to either component.
Sinus bradycardia, second or third-degree heart block, cardiogenic shock, and overt cardiac failure (for Atenolol).
Severe hypotension or advanced aortic stenosis (for Amlodipine).
Side Effects:
May include dizziness, fatigue, slow heartbeat, swelling of legs/ankles, headache, nausea. Rare but serious effects include hypotension, heart failure, or bronchospasm.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Should be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if clearly necessary and under strict medical supervision.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use with caution in patients with asthma, diabetes, or renal/hepatic impairment.
Regular monitoring of blood pressure and heart rate is advised.
