Indications:
TYCIL 500MG Capsule is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible microorganisms, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, and abdominal infections.

Pharmacology:
Ticarcillin, the active ingredient in TYCIL, is a broad-spectrum, semi-synthetic penicillin that acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It is effective against a wide range of gram-negative and gram-positive organisms. It is often reserved for infections not responding to other penicillins.

Dosage & Administration:

Adults: Usually 500 mg every 6 to 8 hours, depending on infection severity and physician’s advice.
Children: Dosage should be determined by a physician based on weight and infection type.
Capsules should be swallowed whole with water, preferably before meals.

Interaction:
May interact with aminoglycosides (if co-administered), anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin), diuretics, and oral contraceptives. Concurrent use may affect drug levels and therapeutic effects.

Contraindications:
Not to be used in patients with a known allergy to penicillins, cephalosporins, or any component of the formulation.

Side Effects:
Possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, allergic skin reactions, and rarely, blood disorders or liver enzyme changes.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use with caution during pregnancy and only under medical supervision. Ticarcillin is excreted in small amounts through breast milk, so use in lactating mothers should be cautious.

Precautions & Warnings:
Use cautiously in patients with impaired kidney function. Long-term use may result in bacterial resistance or superinfections. Periodic monitoring of renal, hepatic, and hematological functions is advised during prolonged treatment.
