Indications:
DEFLUX Suspension is indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), heartburn, indigestion, and symptoms of hyperacidity.
Pharmacology:
DEFLUX contains Sodium Alginate and Potassium Bicarbonate. After ingestion, it reacts with gastric acid to form a viscous gel (raft) that floats on the stomach contents and prevents reflux into the esophagus. Potassium Bicarbonate neutralizes excess acid and reduces irritation.
Dosage:
Adults and children over 12 years: 10-20 ml after meals and at bedtime or as directed by a physician.
Children 6–12 years: 5–10 ml after meals and at bedtime.
Shake well before use.
Administration:
To be taken orally. Use a proper measuring cup or spoon. Should be taken after meals and at bedtime for best results.
Interaction:
May affect the absorption of certain oral medications if taken simultaneously. It is advised to maintain at least a 2-hour gap between doses.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. Use with caution in patients with low-sodium diets, heart disease, or kidney impairment.
Side Effects:
Generally well tolerated. Rarely may cause nausea, constipation, or abdominal discomfort.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Considered safe in pregnancy and lactation when used as directed. However, it should be used under medical supervision.
Precautions & Warnings:
Should not be used continuously for more than 7 days without consulting a doctor. Patients with salt-restricted diets should use cautiously due to sodium content.
