CINAREX D is indicated for:
Bacterial conjunctivitis and keratitis.
Post-surgical ocular inflammation and infection prevention.
Pharmacology
Ciprofloxacin: A fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing bacterial replication.
Dexamethasone: A corticosteroid that reduces inflammation by inhibiting inflammatory mediators and stabilizing cell membranes.
Dosage and Administration
Instill 1–2 drops into the affected eye(s) every 4–6 hours.
Frequency may be increased during the first 24–48 hours based on severity.
Shake well before use.
Interaction
Concurrent use with other ophthalmic medications requires a 5-minute interval between applications.
Avoid combining with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for ocular use without medical advice.
Contraindications
Viral eye infections (e.g., herpes simplex keratitis).
Fungal infections of the eye.
Hypersensitivity to Ciprofloxacin, Dexamethasone, or excipients.
Side Effects
Common: Mild burning or stinging sensation, eye discomfort.
Rare: Increased intraocular pressure, cataract formation, or secondary infections.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Use only if the potential benefit justifies the risk to the fetus.
Caution should be exercised during breastfeeding as small amounts may pass into breast milk.
Precautions & Warnings
Prolonged use may lead to secondary infections or glaucoma.
Regular monitoring of intraocular pressure is recommended for long-term use.
Avoid contaminating the dropper tip and keep it away from surfaces to prevent infection.
