Indications:
EMPALINA 10/5 is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with Empagliflozin or Linagliptin alone does not provide adequate control.

Pharmacology:

Empagliflozin is a sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor that reduces glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, increasing glucose excretion through urine.
Linagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that increases incretin levels, inhibiting glucagon release and increasing insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner.

Dosage:
One tablet once daily, preferably at the same time each day. Dose may be adjusted based on individual glycemic response and renal function.

Administration:
Take orally with or without food. Swallow whole with water. Do not crush or split the tablet.

Interaction:

May interact with diuretics, insulin, sulfonylureas (increased risk of hypoglycemia), and other antidiabetic agents.
Risk of dehydration when used with diuretics.
Concomitant use with rifampicin, phenytoin, or carbamazepine may reduce efficacy.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to Empagliflozin, Linagliptin, or any component of the formulation.
Patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Side Effects:
Common: urinary tract infections, nasopharyngitis, hypoglycemia (especially when combined with sulfonylureas or insulin), increased urination.
Rare: pancreatitis, angioedema, ketoacidosis, genital infections.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not recommended during pregnancy and lactation due to limited safety data. Use only if clearly necessary and prescribed by a physician.

Precautions & Warnings:

Monitor renal function regularly.
Ensure adequate hydration.
Caution in patients with a history of pancreatitis, urinary tract infections, or cardiovascular disease.
