Indications:
Indicated for treatment of localized bacterial skin infections such as impetigo, folliculitis, furunculosis, and infected wounds caused by susceptible bacteria.
Pharmacology:
Mupirocin inhibits bacterial isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase, preventing bacterial protein synthesis and leading to bacterial death. It is effective mainly against gram-positive bacteria including MRSA.
Dosage:
Apply a small amount of cream to the affected area 2-3 times daily or as directed by the physician.
Administration:
For external use only. Clean and dry the affected area before application. Wash hands before and after applying the cream.
Interaction:
Minimal systemic absorption; no significant drug interactions reported.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to mupirocin or any component of the cream.
Side Effects:
Possible mild irritation, itching, burning sensation at application site. Rare allergic reactions.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use during pregnancy and lactation only if clearly needed and prescribed.
Precautions & Warnings:
Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Do not use for large area or deep skin infections unless advised by a doctor.
