Indications:
Vintelix is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults.
Pharmacology:
Vintelix contains Vortioxetine, a serotonin modulator and stimulator. It works by enhancing serotonergic activity in the central nervous system through inhibition of serotonin reuptake and modulation of serotonin receptors.
Dosage & Administration:
The recommended starting dose is 10 mg once daily, with or without food. The dose may be adjusted based on the patient's response and tolerability.
Interaction:
May interact with MAO inhibitors, serotonergic drugs, anticoagulants, and strong CYP inducers or inhibitors. Risk of serotonin syndrome with certain combinations.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Vortioxetine or any component of the formulation. Do not use with MAO inhibitors.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include nausea, dizziness, constipation, and vomiting. Less commonly, sexual dysfunction, insomnia, or abnormal dreams may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk. Caution is advised during pregnancy and breastfeeding as safety data is limited.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for clinical worsening, suicidal thoughts, or behavior changes. Use cautiously in patients with a history of seizures or bipolar disorder.
