Indications:
Rosutin 5mg is indicated for:
Primary hypercholesterolemia
Mixed dyslipidemia
Primary prevention of cardiovascular events in moderate-risk individuals
As an initial dose in elderly or hepatic/renal impaired patients
Pharmacology:
Rosuvastatin selectively inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme crucial for cholesterol synthesis in the liver. This leads to a reduction in LDL cholesterol and triglycerides and a modest increase in HDL cholesterol, aiding in atherosclerosis prevention.
Dosage:
Typical starting dose: 5 mg once daily
Particularly suitable for elderly patients or those with hepatic/renal impairment
Dose may be adjusted based on lipid profile and treatment response
Administration:
Administer orally once daily, with or without food, at a fixed time. Swallow tablet whole with water.
Interaction:
Caution with cyclosporine, warfarin, fibrates, antacids, and protease inhibitors. Liver enzymes and muscle function should be monitored during concurrent use.

Active liver disease

Severe renal dysfunction
