ARLIN 100ML Suspension is indicated for:
Respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis, sinusitis, and pneumonia.
Skin and soft tissue infections.
Urinary tract infections (UTIs).
Otitis media (ear infections) in children.
Pharyngitis and tonsillitis caused by susceptible bacterial strains.
Pharmacology:
Arlin contains Cefuroxime, a second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic:
It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell death.
Effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
It is stable in the presence of beta-lactamase enzymes.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults and Adolescents: 250-500 mg twice daily based on severity.
Children (2 months-12 years): 10-15 mg/kg twice daily, depending on infection type.
Shake well before use. Administer orally with or without food.
Interaction:
Concurrent use with probenecid may increase cefuroxime plasma levels.
Avoid combining with strong acid-reducing agents (e.g., antacids), which may reduce efficacy.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to cefuroxime or other cephalosporins.
History of severe allergic reaction to penicillins.
Side Effects:
Common: Diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain.
Rare: Allergic reactions, pseudomembranous colitis, and anaphylaxis.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy Category B: Safe if prescribed by a physician.
Small amounts may be excreted in breast milk; use with caution during breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use with caution in patients with renal impairment.
Monitor for signs of superinfection during prolonged use.
Do not exceed the prescribed dosage.
