Indications:
TYCIL 250MG is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe infections caused by susceptible organisms. These include infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues, bones and joints, and intra-abdominal infections.
Pharmacology:
TYCIL contains Ticarcillin, a broad-spectrum semi-synthetic penicillin. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, causing the bacteria to die. It is particularly active against gram-negative organisms and some gram-positive bacteria.
Dosage & Administration:
The dosage depends on the type and severity of infection.
Adults: Commonly 250–500 mg every 6–8 hours, as prescribed by the physician.
Children: Dosage is based on body weight and infection severity.
Always take with a full glass of water, before or after meals.
Interaction:
TYCIL may interact with other antibiotics (e.g., aminoglycosides), anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin), and diuretics. It may reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include nausea, diarrhea, skin rash, and pain at injection site (if injectable form is used). Rarely, allergic reactions and blood disorders may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed and prescribed. Ticarcillin is excreted in breast milk in small amounts, so use with caution during lactation.
Precautions & Warnings:
Caution should be exercised in patients with kidney impairment. Prolonged use may result in superinfection. Monitor liver and kidney functions during extended therapy.
Therapeutic Class:
Broad-spectrum Penicillin Antibiotic
Storage Conditions:
Store below 30°C in a dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
