Indications:
Rosutin 10mg is indicated for the treatment of:
Hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol)
Mixed dyslipidemia
Prevention of cardiovascular events in patients with elevated risk
Pharmacology:
Rosuvastatin is a selective, competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, the enzyme responsible for converting HMG-CoA to mevalonate, a precursor of cholesterol. It reduces total cholesterol, LDL-C, ApoB, and triglycerides, while increasing HDL-C.
Dosage:
Adults: Usually 10 mg once daily; dosage may be adjusted based on lipid levels and physician's judgment.
Maximum dose: 40 mg/day.
Administration:
Take once daily, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Swallow whole with water.
Interaction:
May interact with cyclosporine, warfarin, antacids, and certain antivirals. Regular monitoring is advised if taken with other lipid-lowering agents.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Rosuvastatin
Active liver disease
Pregnancy and lactation
Severe renal impairment
Side Effects:
Common: Headache, muscle pain, abdominal pain, nausea
Rare: Myopathy, rhabdomyolysis, liver enzyme elevation
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Contraindicated. Statins should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to potential harm to the fetus or infant.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor liver function and muscle enzymes before and during treatment. Caution in patients with alcoholism or liver disease history.
