Indications:
Uroflo 0.4mg is indicated for the treatment of signs and symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH).
Pharmacology:
Tamsulosin, the active ingredient in Uroflo, is a selective alpha-1A adrenergic receptor blocker. It relaxes the smooth muscles of the prostate and bladder neck, improving urine flow and reducing BPH symptoms.
Dosage & Administration:
The usual dose is one capsule (0.4mg) once daily, about 30 minutes after the same meal each day. The capsule should be swallowed whole without crushing or chewing.
Interaction:
Tamsulosin may interact with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors like ketoconazole, other alpha-blockers, antihypertensive drugs, and warfarin. Caution is advised when used with these medications.
Contraindications:
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Tamsulosin or any of the excipients, and those with a history of orthostatic hypotension.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include dizziness, headache, abnormal ejaculation, weakness, and nasal congestion. Rarely, allergic reactions may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not intended for use in women. Use in pregnancy or lactation is not applicable.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use with caution in patients with severe liver or kidney impairment. Be careful of possible postural hypotension, especially when beginning therapy.
