Indications:
GLIPITA M XR 500MG is indicated for treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control, especially when diet and exercise alone are inadequate.
Pharmacology:
Contains metformin hydrochloride in extended-release form. Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal glucose absorption, and improves insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues.
Dosage:
Dosage individualized by physician. Typically taken once daily with the evening meal to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.
Administration:
Oral use, swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew XR tablets.
Interaction:
May interact with other glucose-lowering agents, diuretics, corticosteroids, and alcohol affecting blood sugar levels.
Contraindications:
