Indications:
BEXITROL F is indicated for:
The management of asthma, especially moderate to severe persistent asthma.
Maintenance treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) with frequent symptoms.
Pharmacology:
Formoterol (25 mcg): A long-acting beta-2 agonist (LABA) that relaxes airway muscles to improve airflow and relieve symptoms like wheezing and shortness of breath.
Fluticasone Propionate (125 mcg): An inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) that reduces airway inflammation, preventing asthma attacks and exacerbations of COPD.
Dosage and Administration:
Adults and adolescents (12 years and older): 2 puffs twice daily, or as prescribed by the physician.
Shake well before use.
Rinse the mouth after inhalation to minimize the risk of oral thrush.
Interaction:
May interact with other beta-agonists, corticosteroids, and certain diuretics.
Caution with concurrent use of beta-blockers, as they may reduce the effectiveness of the inhaler.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Formoterol, Fluticasone, or any other components of the inhaler.
Acute asthma attacks requiring immediate bronchodilation.
Side Effects:
Common: Throat irritation, cough, and oral thrush.
Rare: Palpitations, tremors, or skin rash.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Should be used during pregnancy or lactation only if the potential benefit outweighs the risk and under a doctor’s supervision.
Precautions & Warnings:
Not a rescue inhaler; do not use for sudden asthma attacks.
Regular monitoring of lung function and symptoms is recommended.
Avoid excessive use to prevent systemic side effects.
